Set in the North Country of New York State, this inspiring new novel explores gay adoption in an entertaining way for both gay and general audiences. Gay adoption is becoming more common every day and has not been fully represented in fiction.
Ean is a young gay man who works as a Forensic Case Manager at a social services agency, and has been married for three years to Stacey, an Assistant District Attorney. Stacey feels compelled to adopt a child who Ean names Tur ("Rut" spelled backwards), who is about to be placed in foster care. As the journey with Tur begins, the young family has a fateful encounter with a male bull moose.
The Rut is Bernard Amador's third book. Mr. Amador is also the author of the novel Cyber-Eugenics: The Neural Code and the memoir To Know A Fallen Angel: Understanding the Mind of a Sexual Predator. He is the Supervising Crime Victim Caseworker for the Albany County Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center and a Doctoral candidate at Northcentral University. He holds an M.A. in Forensic Psychology from Sage Graduate School, a B.A. in Forensic Psychology from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Purchase College. He interned with the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Bureau of the U.S. District Attorney's Office in White Plains, New York, at the Mental Health Association of New York, and worked as a Forensic Case Manager with a criminal justice agency. He lives in New York City and upstate New York.
Hudson Mohawk Press is proud to publish this inspiring new work by Bernard Amador.
